Our Story
Early Days
Old Bridge Farm was officially established in 2011, but the foundation of its Adirondack chair craftsmanship and design began long before then. Drawing from his time working in the Adirondack Mountains as a forest ranger, and influenced by a strong family lineage of woodworking, Bill Lauer took the design and assembly process into his own hands.
After building the first prototype in the early 2000’s, Bill realized that the design and build quality was something special. Understanding the potential for a unique and deeply rewarding business venture, he wasted no time and launched a small business known as Algonquin Woodworks. Over the years, he continually refined the original design and expanded into additional style variations.
Creation of Old Bridge Farm
In 2011, after living a faced paced lifestyle in the bustling suburbs of New York, Bill decided it was time for change. With the goal of living on a farmstead and further developing the Adirondack Chair business, he turned a distant dream into a reality.
Today, Old Bridge Farm features four high-tunnel greenhouses, a farm stand, and a fully functional woodshop; all constructed from the ground up. Despite the focus shifting to primarily handmade Adirondack furniture these days, Bill’s vision and legacy of what authentic craftsmanship could be lives on through his son Dylan Lauer, with support from his mother Colleen Lauer.
