Heated Seed Propagation Bed

Setting rope lighting on top of washed sand bed. Finished bed is 3ft by 11ft. Rope lighting is manufactured to be displayed outside in the elements. However as the sand bed heats up to the desired temperature (between 75-80 degrees) it will become and stay bone dry! A timer is added after the desired temperature is reached. (You don't want to cook your seeds). Everything is put down in this order: 5 inches washed sand, then 48 feet of rope lighting, then 2 inches of washed sand as a top layer over the rope lighting. Bricks are put on top of the rope lighting to hold it down as the sand is applied, then later removed. Leave an inch of rope lighting exposed on each end. That way you know that it is on and working. There is a lot of mass with all the sand. It took a solid week to heat up the bed to the desired temperature.
